Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 11 am – 5 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10 am – 5 pm

Auerbach Library: Wednesdays & Thursdays, 11 am – 5 pm

The museum is closed July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day, and closes at 3 pm the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.

General Admission

Admission to the Wadsworth Atheneum is free from 4-5 pm Wednesday-Sunday, excluding days with an Art After Dark event.

At all other times museum admissions are:
Members: Free
Hartford Residents: Free
Adults: $15
Seniors (62+): $12
Students (18+ with school ID): $5
Youth (under 18): Free
Let’s GO Arts! Members: Buy one, get one free

A $3 surcharge added to all admissions during Fine Art & Flowers and Festival of Trees & Traditions.

Group Admission

Groups of 10 people or more are encouraged to make a reservation, and are eligible for special benefits.

Free Admission Opportunities

As part of the Wadsworth Atheneum’s Community Engagement Initiative to provide greater community access to the museum, a variety of free general admission options are available (special fees excluded).

Wadsworth Welcome
Through a partnership with the City of Hartford and Aetna, the Wadsworth Atheneum now offers free admission for Hartford residents every day the museum is open. Read more here.

Happy Hour: Wednesday – Sunday from 4 – 5 pm
Admission to the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art is free from 4-5 pm Wednesday-Sunday.
*Please note that a $3 fundraising surcharge applies during Fine Art & Flowers and Festival of Trees & Traditions

Second Saturdays For Families
Arrive between 10 am and 1 pm on the second Saturday of each month and enjoy free admission for the day. Check our calendar for a list of upcoming family programs.

Library ARTpass
Visit your Connecticut public library and borrow the Wadsworth Atheneum ARTpass. Offered free of charge to more than 200 Connecticut public libraries, the ARTpass provides free general admission for two adults and two youth age 17 and younger.

Community Open House
Several times each year, the Wadsworth Atheneum sponsors Community Open House days. More than free admission to the museum, Open House events feature special programming, activities, and performers to heighten the connection between visitors and the art. Veterans
Veterans are admitted free of charge year-round.

Active-duty Military
Active-duty military and their immediate family members (up to five) are admitted free of charge year-round.

Bank of America Museums on Us
Bank of America gives its credit and debit cardholders free admission to the Wadsworth Atheneum the first weekend every month. Visit the Bank of America website for more details.

Evening Lectures
Most evening lectures are free and open to the public.
