Directions & Parking
The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art is located at 600 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103.
PLEASE NOTE: The museum’s Avery entrance will be closing in early 2016 to accommodate construction on Travelers Plaza. During the period of construction visitors may enter the museum on Prospect Street or on Main Street. The Main Street entrance is accessible to visitors with disabilities; approach the ramp from the south at Burr Mall.

- Front Street South Garage – the Wadsworth Atheneum’s “Official Parking Lot” just steps from the museum!
GPS Address: Front Street Crossing, Hartford, CT
(Once you turn onto Front Street Crossing, the garage entrance is on your right)
$3 flat rate for museum visitors with validation in the Museum Shop or in Avery Lobby. Not valid for overnight parking. Click here for walking directions from the garage to the museum.
Note: to redeem your validated parking stub at Front Street South, use the “pay ahead” kiosks, which accept cash or credit, or simply use a credit card in any of the exit lanes (no cash in exit lanes).
- On-Street Parking
Kiosk parking is available for $1 per hour. The kiosks accept coins, debit cards, and credit cards. Display the printed parking receipt on the dashboard inside your vehicle. Please observe posted signs. Some areas are tow zones after 3:30 pm on weekdays. On-street parking is always FREE after 6 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
- Handicap Parking
It is suggested that visitors with disabilities park on the Main Street side of the museum to access the ramp at the Main Street entrance. Please approach the Main Street entrance from the south at Burr Mall to bypass access the ramp.
Please note that the Trumbull Street garage no longer accepts museum-validated parking.
Other Transportation Options
- DASH circulator bus, a free shuttle which makes several stops around the city, can be used to get from various parking garages to the museum.
- CT fastrak stops very close to the museum for visitors coming from Bristol, Plainville, Farmington, or New Britain.
