European Decorative Arts Internship (Fall 2016)
The European Decorative Arts Intern will provide assistance to the Curator of European Decorative Arts in developing an installation of English silver from the Wadsworth Atheneum’s Elizabeth Miles collection. Responsibilities will include: reviewing all archival documents and object files related to the Miles collection; working with the curator to update the museum’s database (measuring objects, recording marks); drafting basic identification labels. If time permits, the intern will also create individual object files for the ancient and Chinese works included in a recent reinstallation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in art history or material culture and decorative arts. Excellent research skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail will be required. This internship is open to undergraduate seniors and graduate students, and is not limited to art history majors.
