Let our grand beaux-arts and classic modern galleries form the backdrop for your next corporate or organization dinner party, cocktail reception, seminar, or meeting. With masterpieces of European and American art gracing the walls, set within a historically and architecturally significant building, your guests will experience an event to be remembered.

The museum’s downtown location provides a central gathering place with multiple spaces to suit a wide variety of business needs. Depending on your entertaining style and space requirements, the museum’s distinctive spaces each offer a different ambiance for your guests.

Spaces

Avery Court

The first international style space in an American museum, Avery Court features a spectacular skylight and a superb fountain sculpture, Venus with Nymph and Satyr, dated 1600, made for a garden in Florence by the Mannerist sculptor Pietro Francavilla. Avery Court can accommodate 350 guests standing, 220 guests seated, or 135 guests for events that are both standing and seated, such as a cocktail reception and dinner.

Morgan Great Hall

The elegant Morgan Great Hall features majestic 50-foot high ceilings, seating up to 120 for dinner and allowing 200 for a reception. A renovation of the beautiful Beaux-Arts Morgan Memorial Building—restored to its historic splendor and boasting the first complete reinstallation of the European art collection in over 20 years—was completed September 19, 2015.

Aetna Theater & Loctite Lobby

For formal presentations requiring more extensive audio visual capabilities, the Aetna Theater is fully equipped with a stage and audio visual equipment. Floor-to-ceiling lyrical Neo-Romantic murals line the walls of the classic Art Deco theater, originally opened in 1934. The theater holds up to 284 guests and has an adjoining lobby for small pre and post event receptions.

Hartford Courant Room, Museum Cafe & Gengras Court

For more intimate gatherings, the Hartford Courant Room provides the perfect location for business breakfasts, luncheons, meetings, presentations, lectures, and small dinner parties. Capacity for a seated meal, lecture or standing reception is 50. The museum café also serves smaller business groups for breakfast meetings, evening cocktail receptions and dinner events. This space can be used in conjunction with the adjoining outdoor Gengras Court during the warmer months. Capacity is 75 for a seated meal and 100 for a standing reception in the café.
